Channelview ISD meets the needs of all students and provides an early transition program for our English Language Learners (ELL) whose primary language is other than English.
The number of ELL students in other language categories varies each year, and the students are provided instruction in a Bilingual and English As A Second Language (ESL) program.
The primary goal of the Bilingual/ESL Program is to provide instruction to enable Limited English Proficient students to become competent in the speaking, reading, listening, and writing of the English language through the integrated use of second language methods.
English instruction that is commensurate with the student's level of English proficiency is delivered though ESL methodology by an endorsed ESL teacher.
